'Run babby run' tries to tell us about the backstage drama of sensational news creation and the tug of war in the media business. Cameraman Venu played by (Mohanlal), a stringer photographer for Reuters arrives at Kochi from Delhi for a trial of an old case. A short flashback reveals the breakup of the Venu-Renuka (played by Amala Paul) romance. The main plot begins with the reunion of Renuka; now the senior editor of a prominent news channel with Venu for covering a sensational scoop surrounding the politician Bharathan Pillai (Sai Kumar) and industrialist Rajan Kartha (Siddique). The rest is cat and mouse game with predictable twists.

Sachi has written some good sequences like that of a 'shoe throw scene' to show us how the news is made sensational; even though the making of those shots, questions the logic of a man from Reuters. Director Joshiy has made the movie colourful and to some extent gripping. Mohanlal's role is not at all challenging for an actor of his caliber. Amala paul has almost same space as that of Lal but has nothing much to do than to keep the screen glam. Biju Menon has handled the humour well and all others have done justice to their roles. The clichéd villain characters don't offer anything for a thriller. BGM by Ratheesh Vega is nice and the solo song sung by Mohanlal is enjoyable but is mainly for promoting the movie.

RBR is a film cooked with usual ingredients for a safer box office performance and it tastes ok. It doesn't surprise or take us to the edge of the seat but is able to keep us inside the cinema hall. You may yawn at many moments crafted specially for Lal fans. It's watchable for fun and not prescribed for film critics as it doesn't offer much to look on as it's just another festival film from Joshiy.
