Three husbands plan to go to Goa for a brief relief from the tie of their wives. This is the plot of Saji Surendrans latest film Husbands in Goa. They meet a drunkard named Sunny played by Lal in the train and they decide to fix him as their mentor for the Goan trip. While in Goa they re-lives themselves as free birds through the beaches till they fall to a police case from which Sunny helps them out. But the lie which Sunny tells the police officer to get out of the case hits back on them. By this time their wives find that their husbands have cheated them and are enjoying a bachelor's life in Goa. So they arrive there to find out their husbands' mischievousness. Climax is where all are happy except the audience.
Saji Surendran tries to make slapstick a weapon to conquer the common viewer but always forgets even it needs the help of a crisp and sensible script. The performances of the lead actors or actresses has nothing much to mention. The remix of the No.20 Madras mail song by MG Sreekumar doesn't feel different except for some rap added in the middle.
The crew of the movie has tried to make it colourful but the richness of the screen can't alone make a film even watchable. The story is so story less and stupid that even a kindergarten child would laugh not for the screen comedy but for the efforts of the actors to make us laugh. These kinds of movies may find full houses for the first two days as it is promoted so widely by big production houses like UTV, but won't find a bit of place in the heart of film lovers. To conclude, you may watch it if you have nothing else to do on a weekend.
NB: <0.50-Avoid, 0.50-1-Watch at your own risk, 1-2-Watchable, 2-3-Average movie, 3-4-Good movie, 4-4.50-Must watch, >4.50-Classic
